Raison D'Etre - An Update

"Never mistake activity for achievement." - John Wooden

We can not do anything about the circumstances that we inherit, nor the substance of the conditions that are given us by nation, culture, status, community, family or genetics.

What we can decide, is what to do with the time that is given us. We can choose the substance and production - the fruits of our inheritance as they're firmly rooted in the soil of of our living and nurtured with the essence of our learning, love, labor, experience, wisdom, effort, motives, morals and most critically our achievements.

It is with the hope of doing some small part to forecast and guide a future of unparalleled moral achievement that I write Society Proforma. It is with a shadow of doubt and a warning in my heart that I feel compelled to act and to encourage action on the matters herein discussed.

There will be a future for humankind and the biosphere we inhabit. But without a definitive course correction and a mobilization of every available mental, physical and emotional resource toward an alternative pathway for the future, the existing track will lead us to an undiscovered country of unrecognizable destruction and despoliation.

Our society is insufficiently addressing the creation of short, intermediate and long term solutions, but we must have them. We must have the vision to create a future of freedom, self-determination, balance and responsible stewardship for all humankind - a future that finds equilibrium between humans, our environment and the other members of the biosphere. We must also have the fortitude to enact and maintain those solutions with resolve, integrity, conviction, a discerning intellect and an open heart. And we must do this despite of and in the face of rigorous opposition. We must do this now.

But to entreat solutions is not to define or suggest action. So, what are we doing? How are we going to stop despoliation, extinction and the rampant abuses of human, environmental and social capital? What solutions are we crafting and who's crafting them? How are they to be implemented, enforced, arbitered and ultimately revitalized? Is there an over reigning ideology to this work that sets intention and purpose? Is there a moral compass - a mission, vision and values? If so what are they?

These questions and their answers are what this blog is meant to articulate. Mobilizing support for the suggested courses of action herein proposed is what the entirety of my writing is dedicated to. In Society Proforma we will answer these difficult questions and work toward mobilizing people to implement solutions. Join us.
